The legendary land of Upper Mustang, often called the “Last Forbidden Kingdom,” is now more accessible thanks to a major permit reform introduced by the Department of Immigration.

This remote Himalayan desert near the Tibetan border is famous for its ancient monasteries, dramatic cliffs, sky caves, and the walled capital of Lo Manthang.

For 2026, the government has introduced a new, flexible permit pricing system.

🆕 Upper Mustang Permit Cost – What Changed?

Old System:

USD 500 per person (mandatory 10 days)
USD 50 per additional day

New 2026 System:

✅ USD 50 per person per day
✅ No 10-day minimum stay
✅ Pay only for actual days inside Upper Mustang
