Machhapuchhre is Nepali word of “fishtail”. Machhapuchhre model trek or fishtail model trek is a recently explored new trekking route trail of Nepal, in Annapurna Conservation area specifically designed for trekkers who are looking for a less congested, unspoiled trek far from the growing road network. Machhapuchhre model trek route has been opened in the Kaski district, near Pokhara. The blending of rich cultural heritage of diverse ethnic groups like Gurung, Tamang, Magar, Damai, Kami, Sarki, Chhetri, Newar, and Brahmins etc with the eye catching views of snowcapped mountains like Mt. Mardi, Mt. Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Himalayan ranges from the close proximity of this new trekking route.

Major Attraction: The new trekking route trail spans a variety of different terrains – beautifully carved terrace farming, beautiful villages, culture of ethnic dwellers, amazing waterfalls and caves, mountainscapes and lush vegetation including vibrant blossoming national flower rhododendron forests. Experience the majestic view of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiun Chuli and other mountains.

Trekkers have the option to extend the trek up to Mardi Himal Base Camp enjoying the great views of the snow-capped Himalayan range including the popular Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Machhapuchare, natural hot water springs, mixed indigenous lifestyles, rhododendron forest, ancient caves, waterfalls, various species of flora and fauna and the amazing viewpoints.

Machhapuchhre Model Trek can be done either by staying in the camping tents in indigenous houses in the villages of Lachok, Ghachok, Machhapuchare, Ribhan, Lwang Ghalel, Sardikhola and Dhital. The Machhapuchhre Model homestay has been fruitful for more than 16,000 local villagers. TAAN is working hard to minimize the environmental impacts and to maximize the economic impacts of trekking.
